Hotel Meliá San Carlos rises in the heart of the historical center, only a couple of blocks from its main square, where the cathedral, the city hall, a famous theather, art studios, galleries and bars attract locals and turists alike.
Originally from 1925, it was Cienfuegos' main hotel for many years. Today it has been totally and beautifully refurbished, rooms are modern, furniture is elegant and new inner courtyards, which can be found behind the imposing lobby, have been added.
One of the hotel's biggest appeals is without a doubt its roof garden, where every morning breakfast is served and one can enjoy an amazing view over the city.
A drawback? It can be noisy at nights, depending on the room one gets. So maybe not for travelers that are sensitive to noise.
Also, the hotel does not feature a pool, but guests are welcome to use the one in nearby hotel La Unión, withing walking distance from San Carlos, as well as Hotel Jagua's, both from the same hotel chain.
