Hotel Meliá San Carlos rises in the heart of the historical center, only a couple of blocks from its main square, where the cathedral, the city hall, a famous theather, art studios, galleries and bars attract locals and turists alike.
Originally from 1925, it was Cienfuegos' main hotel for many years. Today it has been totally and beautifully refurbished, harmoniously mixing the classic and the modern, avant-garde design in a colonial building, which has resulted in a fresh and modern environment of great elegance.
Rooms are modern, bright, comfortable, tastefully decorated and some of them offer beautiful views of the city of Cienfuegos, known in Cuba as La Perla del Sur * for its beauty.
The hotel's furniture is elegant and new inner courtyards have been added behind the imposing lobby.
The quality services and the friendliness of its staff are highly flattered by visitors.
One of the hotel's biggest appeals is undoubtedly its roof garden, where every morning breakfast is served and one can enjoy the beautiful views.
If we had to mention any drawback, it would be the noise at night, depending on the room. So maybe this is not a hotel for those sensitive to noise. Bear in mind that it is a very central city hotel.
The hotel does not feature a swimming pool, but guests are welcome to use the one in nearby hotel La Unión, withing walking distance from Meliá San Carlos, as well as that of the Hotel Jagua, both belonging to the same hotel chain.
