It is the longest of its sort in the country, with almost 2 kilometers in length and provides a setting of excellent architecture showcasing the city’s development in construction over time.

Like its counterparts in the island, it is a long tree-lined boulevard with a wide central strip flanked by wooden benches where the visitor can lean back and rest while having a nice chat in the shade.

Its origins go all the way back to 1825, the year when it first appeared in a street plan from the town’s earliest days.

Along one of its stretches features a curious sculpture commemorating the great Benny Moré, the Cuban musical icon native of the locality.
