In the very heart of the city of Cienfuegos, hotel La Union by Melia is housed in a marvelously restored colonial mansion located on a boulevard, just a block away from the José Martí park, the core of the city, and all the main attractions.
It is a 4-storey building founded in 1869, neoclassical style, whose walls keep interesting moments of the Cuban history; famous personalities such as the Russian dancer Ana Pavlova or the American writer Samuel Hazard, once stayed here.
La Unión by Meliá is a boutique hotel, a classification used in Cuba for small hotels (49 rooms), with charm cozy atmosphere, exquisite services, and refined decoration.
It also counts with a friendly and professional staff, a fantastic pool nestled in an interior courtyard, and a bar that offers guest service in the pool area. An excellent place to relax after a walk in the heat of the city.
The open-air central courtyard bar is another great space to hang out, relax and have a cup of coffee, as well as the "Venus Negra" roof top bar and terrace on the 4th floor, with amazing views of the city and the bay. It is also very pleasant at night.
Rooms are nicely decorated with colonial style furniture, made in precious woods and they offer all the comforts of modern life for a pleasant stay.
If you are sensitive to noise, it is better to choose one of the interior rooms, those facing the front are somewhat noisy, especially on weekends.
There is a small souvenir shop, a mini-pharmacy, meeting rooms and a gym.
The hotel itself does not offer much animation at night, but in the surroundings there are numerous bars with live music that will also allow you to connect with locals.
All in all, a very attractive place to spend a night or two in the center of the beautiful city of Cienfuegos.
