Reopened as a boutique hotel in 2016, the Castillo de las nubes was formerly a castle built by a farmer named Antonio Arturo Bustamante in 1940. It is located 1.5 km up a rather rough road beyond the Orchidarium of Soroa.
The small boutique hotel counts with only six luxurious rooms, a bar – restaurant, a small pool and, its best, majestic views in every direction you look of the mountains in the area. It is truly a gem on the clouds. Comfortable rooms, good food, and custom service. It remains a well-kept secret.
A setback is that the hotel has a lot of stairs and thus not recommendable for people with disabilities, the elderly and small children. Another setback is that the walk up the hotel may also be strenuous. Best with transportation without doubt.
It is located at some 80 km from Havana. Near Soroa. Extremely quiet and away from everything. If you start your trip from the bottom of the mountain working your way up, you will be able to swim in the waterfall, visit the orchid garden and end your trip at the Castillo de las Nubes (Castle in the clouds).
