The Sierra del Rosario is a 25 000 hectare reserve with most of the area lush, prime forest. The reserve protects near 600 endemic higher plant species and 250 lower plant species. 98 bird species are found here including 24 endemic ones like trogons, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, parrots and the national Tocororo.
