Villa Soroa is located in La Cordillera del Rosario, a privileged area of beautiful landscapes and great biodiversity which was Cuba's first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The hotel features 74 rooms in total, 49 of which are located in the main building while there are 25 more rooms distributed among chalets that are around a beautiful swimming pool (even if sometimes packed with locals).
An ideal place for ecotourism, there are tracks for hiking, rivers, many types of ferns and birds (some of them endemic to Cuba), picturesque houses, friendly people, and a stunning waterfall of 21 meters high that invites visitors to take a refreshing swim any time of the year.
Also, the largest orchid garden in the country is situated in the neighboring area, which is home to more than 700 different types of orchids and multiple species of ferns.
Although the hotel is in a lovely area and is nice to walk around the well maintained grounds, service and rooms are very basic, the latter needing repairs and proper maintenance.
The food could also be a lot better, but one could always eat in paladares ( private restaurants that are sometimes in the local’s houses).
