The Hotel Iberostar Selection Playa Pilar 5* is a resort which rises seafront in Cayo Guillermo, a key that together with Cayo Coco and other small islands form the archipelago Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens), off Cuba’s north coast.
Access to Cayo Guillermo is possible by plane, landing in Cayo Coco's international airport , then taking a causeway connecting both keys. Or by land using a causeway (17 Km) that links the mainland to Cayo Coco, and Cayo Guillermo.
Cayo Guillermo is known for its natural beauty, amazing coral reef and above all, for hosting Playa Pilar, one of the most spectacular beaches in Cuba, named after Hemingway's boat, since the famous writer used to fish in the area .
The resort itself has no access to a large sandy beach. There is a very attractive boardwalk that leads to a small beautiful beach. From the sun beds placed all along the boardwalk, guests can enjoy the incredible views of the sea, read a good book, go snorkeling.
The resort features a total of 482 rooms distributed in modern buildings, and the rooms are spacious, modern, well equipped and bright.
The pool area is very beautiful, 5 large outdoor swimming pools of original zigzagging design, including a children's pool and a water park.
The entertainment team does a great job, and the nautical center offers pedaloes, canoes and catamarans as part of the all-inclusive package. There is also a catamaran excursion to the coral reef for snorkeling, at an additional cost but well worth it.
The hotel features a buffet restaurant and several specialized ones, and visitors are usually very pleased with the food.
Tips:
