Hotel Casa Granda stands strategically on a corner of Parque Céspedes, Santiago's main plaza and heart of the city.
The hotel features a fantastic terrace that overlooks the square where guests can sit to enjoy a Cuba Libre, smoke a puro, and watch the flood of life through the colonial plaza. On the rooftop there's another terrace with breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings which offers night-time entertainment as well.
Its lovely eclectic façade make it one of the most attractive buildings in the area but unfortunately the inside, including the rooms, is not as fancy. It has an enormous potential but it lacks a lot as well.
It is, nevertheless, probably the best hotel in the city, only compared to Meliá Santiago, the location of which is not as good. Casa Granda is surrounded by cultural and historical life, has all the tourist sights within close reach, including Casa de la Trova for traditional music, and tons of restaurants and palladars (private restaurants).
Room tip: The outside rooms offer a view but are noisy; the inside rooms are quieter.
