Orchidiary

Located in Soroa, it is one of the prizes to see in this area. The orchidiary covers trhree hectares and claims to be the second largest of its class in the world. It was created in 1943 by Spaniard Tomás Felipe Camacho who built the hill top house where a lookout ( mirador ) stands today.

The garden is kept by the University of Pinar del Rio and contains over 20 000 plants and 700 species where 250 of them are indigenous to Cuba.
