Captains Generals' Palace

The Palace of the Captain Generals, now the City Museum, is regarded as the most important architectonic ensemble of classical style in Cuba.

It was erected near the Cathedral of Havana and its construction dates back to 1776. It was home to 65 captain generals dispatched by Spain to rule over Cuba, as well as the premises of the United States Administrator from 1898 till 1902, and also the seat of the Presidential Palace of the Republic until 1920.

The edifice contains 40 ample halls that are nowadays dedicated to reminisce by way of relics, the struggles for emancipation from the Spanish colony.
