Attractions in Holguin and Guardalavaca

La Cueva Restaurante

A restaurant located in Gibara, an idiosyncratic fishermen’s village in northern Holguin that has in recent times grown in stature as a tourist attraction of the province.

The name of the establishment could be a bit misleading in terms of the idea one might get regarding the sort of place it really is, for though it is called the “cave”, the restaurant has nothing to do with a cavern, it’s more like a ranch-styled construction with a thatched roof made of dried palm tree leaves, and walls with bricks in relief that grant its halls a singularity to the visitor’s eyes.

As with any fine restaurant in a fishermen’s town, the one thing never missing from its menu are marine specialties: shrimp, lobsters, crabs, snappers, blue marlin etc, although one can also sample other dishes from a wide variety of traditional creole cookery.

One of the aspects most remarked by patrons are its incredible prices.
