Natural reserve located in the westernmost part of the largest mountainous massif in Cuba: the Sierra Maestra. It is characterized by its scarped terrain on the part overlooking the sea and the presence of a complex framework of marine terraces, both emergent and underwater types, natural formations that constitute the largest and best preserved exponent of this geographic fault worldwide. It possesses a great wealth of plant species with a high degree of endemism.
