Playa Giron

A small beach with fine, white sands. Just like Playa Larga, it has a sharper decline in its marine slope contrary to most beaches located on the northern coast of Cuba. The beach holds a special tourism appeal in terms of scuba diving and underwater exploration, flaunting an ample scene of marine fauna that includes corals and exotic fish.

The site has particular relevance in Cuban history for being the place that sealed the defeat of the expeditionary disembarkation on April 1961, which had the aim of defeating the revolutionary process set in motion on 1959 that still governs the island. Very near the beach there’s a museum with a collection of objects and documents that help recall those events.
