This restaurant is managed by private enterprise, meaning it has no affiliation with any state entities, and is located in a very central part of the city of Cienfuegos, a few meters from the magnificent Paseo del Prado and en route to the area of Punta Gorda, one of the most architectonically elegant zones of this southerly town. Given its location, it is an ideal spot for travelers to make a halt in their sightseeing to refreshen from the rigors of tropical climate by benefiting from the wide range of cocktails available at the bar, or commend themselves to sating their culinary appetites with the rich offers at hand at the restaurant.
The establishment is set in a spacious ‘ranchón’, a large thatch-roofed structure in the best bucolic style, furnished with a fair amount of tables and their respective “taburetes” or stools: a chair variant much used in the Cuban countryside whose main feature is the comfort afforded by its very sober design.
Multitudes of travelers and even locals venture to this picturesque spot attracted by its fame and the aromas wafting out from its kitchen, specialized mostly in varieties of fish and shellfish always cooked over charcoal, “al carbón”.
