Attractions in Havana

Fabrica de arte cubano (FAC)

One of the favorite sites of current day Havana, preferred by all who dream of having a space to quench their appetites for leisure, combining in one same spot various artistic expressions such as music, visual arts, handicrafts, and plastic arts, among others. From Wednesday to Sunday it opens its doors to host all would-be lovers of its magic; the majority gather in the nightly hours since it is around this time the music concerts are held and its gastronomic offers start, but the place also opens exposition spaces since the morning hours.

Inside, two structural levels distribute their space into three multipurpose halls with variable capacities devoted to: live concerts and performance, theater and dance pieces, conferences, workshops and audiovisual screenings. In addition, it also presents six exhibition spaces for photography, visual arts, architecture and design. Each one of these spaces has a very well stocked bar where one can enjoy a wide range of cocktails at really affordable prices.

The edifice hosting the venue is in itself one of its main attractions to begin with, since in a distant past it housed one of the power generating stations that supplied the Cuban Trolley Car Company from 1905 until 1913. Later on, at around the decade of the 30s of this past century, a peanut oil factory called "El Cocinero" was established there, one whose memory endures thanks to the very tall brick chimney that still today complements the principal building and can be easily sighted from various points in Havana.

Address: Streets 26 and 11, Vedado, Havana.
