University of Havana

An impressive architectonic complex rising majestically, along with its flight of steps and the figure of its Alma Máter, at the entrance of El Vedado, and set on an elevation originally known in the colonial era as the Pyrotechnics Hill.

Located on what is now known as the “University Hill”, this group of edifices built entirely before 1940, now house the faculties of university studies related to the Law, Mathematics, Pharmacy, History and Physics. Its eldest construction is the “Aula Magna” (the great hall), dating from the first decade of the past century, which comprises in its interior décor six large frescos of the prominent Cuban painter Armando Menocal.
