If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, safe, off the beaten track hotel to unplug and unwind; if you don’t like the typical resort and prefer something smaller, more intimate, authentic, charming, quaint and friendly, with places off the resort to explore and walk to, Villa Don Lino is the right place for you.
Set amidst beautiful nature there are two different types of room: Very simply furnished unmodernized beach front cabins, and newer two story bungalows featuring more amenities, like minibars and bathtubs. They are all clean and quiet with some maintenance issues in some of them.
Although an all-inclusive beach resort don’t expect the perfect white sandy beach. The hotel features an approximately 280 meters long, 50 meters wide beach which is a bit rocky and rough therefore not so good for swimming but featuring plenty of loungers and shade palapas. About 2Km away there is also Playa Blanca, a very nice calm sea white sandy beach to which you can walk, cycle or take a horse and buggy for only a few CUCs.
Bicycles are included, as well as horses and nautical non-motorized equipment; there are sports areas to play baseball, beach volleyball and tennis and also day and night entertainment yet suave. It's not a party hearty type of resort but the ideal place for people wanting to get away from the stress, internet, phones…it's like stepping back in time in that sense.
Food is not great though adequate considering it is such a small resort. Staff is one of the virtues of the place since they are truly warm and attentive. The grounds are beautiful and you will find many coconut palms and caleta grape vines plus there are horses, goats, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs wandering about. The swimming pool is small but nice.
Tips:
There are no currency facilities and the shop hasn’t much to offer so it’s best to buy convertible pesos and everything you might need before arriving at the hotel. Bring also snorkel equipment if you like snorkeling, water shoes for the rocks; books, games and music along. A flash light could also come in handy.
