The modern and luxurious Hotel Iberostar Parque Central is located in the very heart of the old city, across the street from Havana's Central Park, surrounded by famous buildings such as the "Gran Teatro de La Habana", the Capitol Building, the Museum of Fine Arts, and within walking distance from The Cathedral, The Malecón (the emblematic seaside promenade), the gorgeous Paseo del Prado (where the cha-cha-cha was born), and from bars El Floridita & La Bodeguita del Medio.
The wonderful lobby features marble floors and lively decor in ochre and bottle green colors, blending a contemporary style with colonial hints. The mezzanine has an upscale cigar lounge-bar, executive meeting rooms, a business center, and art gallery.
The rooms offer antique reproduction furnishing and marble bathrooms with separate tub and shower, vanity mirrors, fluffy towels...Many rooms have no view though; be sure to ask for an exterior room.
There are some shops in the lobby area, and on the roof there's the beautiful swimming pool, a whirlpool tub, a fitness room and a rooftop grill that serves snacks.
Staff is friendly and always helpful in offering advice and tips about the city.
Breakfast is very good, with a wide choice and in a nicely decorated ambiance. Lunch by the pool and evening meal at the Italian restaurant in the new Torre section are both good options. (The hotel has two sections: the oldest one, Iberostar Parque Central, and a newer one called Iberostar Parque Central Torre. Both are very adequate although Iberostar Parque Central definitely has more character, perhaps only equaled by the Hotel Nacional de Cuba but with a much better location if your goal is to be closer to the old historical center).
It is a modern hotel perfect for evading the wild pace you encounter in the streets of Havana. Blending past and future with class and refinement, this hotel is without doubt one of the finest options in Havana.
