Santa Maria is one of the recently opened hotels in the historic center of the city of Camaguey, the 5th of the 7 villas founded under the name of Santa María del Puerto del Principe, by the Spaniards in Cuba. To mark its 500th anniversary (2014) the city started an amazing work of restoration and beautification that included the 1920’s building now housing Hotel Santa Maria, among many others.
As a result, Santa María is today a very elegant and beautiful hotel, inside and out, and being located facing the centric Plaza del Gallo, which is the heart of the city’s colonial center, it is really close to most interesting sites, many restaurants and bars.
It features a very comfortable lobby, a gorgeous rooftop terrace with fantastic views where breakfast is served every morning; 31 spacious rooms that are spread among its 5 floors, a restaurant and a 24 hour open bar.
There is no elevator at the moment, but there will be one soon and in the meantime your luggage will be taken upstairs by the bell hops that are very kind and attentive, as is the rest of the staff.
