Hotel Encanto Caballeriza is a brand new boutique hotel of only 21 rooms located in Holguín’s historical center which occupies a house from 1810 that has been beautifully restored and tastefully furnished and decorated.
As a typical colonial house of the upper classes of the XIX century, there’s an inner courtyard, lovely and perfect for enjoying a drink or delicious Cuban coffee, and most rooms are spread among the 2nd and 3rd floors. On the ground floor there is also the reception and bar-restaurant area where breakfast is offered every morning.
The hotel’s name comes from its own history, since the owner of the original house turned it into stables (Caballeriza means stables in Spanish) and it was this very past of the house which inspired its décor.
The word Encanto ( “charm” in Spanish) is a fairly new brand of Cuban hotel chains Cubanacán and Islazul, which aim to classify these hotels as “boutique” or “hotel de charme”, as the French call this type of accommodation, generally with not many rooms but lots of character.
(The word can sometimes be found abbreviated to an “E” at the entrance of these lodgings and used as part of the name: E. Caballeriza).
