Parque Nacional Los Haitises

Los Haitises National Park is located in the bay of Samaná and constitutes one of the main ecological attractions of the Dominican Republic.

Its name means "mountainous land" in the Taino language, presenting a varied ecosystem, both maritime and terrestrial: hills, inlets, valleys, bays, beaches, keys, mogotes and its famous cave system hidden in the jungle where you can enjoy the largest collection of cave paintings belonging to the country's ancient pre-Columbian cultures.

It is home to hundreds of birds such as pelicans and herons, different species of reptiles; dolphins and humpback whales, jutías, bats, many endemic and in danger of extinction like the hawk.

The flora includes the largest mangrove population in the Caribbean; trees such as mahogany and cedar, a nursery for various orchids, among the approximately 700 species of plants found in it.

You can take a pleasant boat trip, kayak through its mangroves, cool off in a waterfall or swim on the beach, explore the caves, enjoy delicious food and drinks, among other experiences that will connect you with the beauty and history of this park .
