Isla Saona

Saona Island is the largest natural reserve in the Dominican Republic, forming part of the Parque Nacional del Este (Cotubanamá National Park). It has an area of ​​approximately 110 square kilometers with virgin beaches of fine white sand, turquoise waters and beautiful palm and coconut trees.

Its impressive coral reefs serve as habitat for a wide variety of species of fish, mollusks and corals, making it an ideal place for diving and snorkelling. You will also find a great diversity of animals on the island with around 112 species of birds, exotic mammals in danger of extinction such as the manatee.

Hiking lovers will find interesting routes to follow through two trails: Sendero from Mano Juan to Punta Cuano and Sendero from Mano Juan to Punta Cruz.

Another of the attractions of this island are its authentic and picturesque fishing villages Catuano and Mano Juan, with about 500 inhabitants in total, as well as its beaches, where "Canto de la Playa" is considered the best in the area, followed by “Playa Bonita” and “Playa del Gato”. Its natural pool "Las Palmillas" in the middle of the Caribbean Sea is its greatest tourist attraction with just one meter deep and is the largest in the world.
