Muyil Archaeological Zone

Muyil is a hidden archaeological treasure in the Riviera Maya also known as Chunyaxché. It is located about 15 km from Tulum and approximately 40 km from Cobá, in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, making it a place of great natural beauty that invites exploration.

It is one of the oldest and longest-occupied Mayan cities, with several pre-Hispanic vestiges such as temples, altars and platforms, among which El Castillo, a pyramid of about 18 meters and which is its most famous structure, stands out. Temple 8 or Pink Palace, where mural paintings and pieces of ceramics were found, and the Plaza de la Entrada, a place where religious ceremonies and civil events were held.

Also here you can take a boat ride to the Muyil lagoon passing through the mangroves of the nature reserve and visit the viewpoint to enjoy the flora and fauna of the area.
