Hotel Vedado is part of a hotel complex composed of 3 different hotels: Hotel Vedado, Hotel Saint John's and the Flamingo. The latter is connected to the Vedado. Saint John´s stands by itself only a few meters away. The hotel complex enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the distric of Vedado, perhaps, culturally speaking, the most interesting and central neighborhood in the city following the historical center of Old Havana.
All three offer similar standards and facilities distinguished by maybe only a few aspects. Hotel Vedado owns the swimming pool that it shares with its partner buildings. On the other hand, Saint John´s features, on its tallest level, the popular night club “ El Pico Blanco”.
Built in the 50’s, today they all boost modest accommodation in the heart of Havana. Small and not exactly chic or luxurious. Rooms are dated, cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, air conditioners are noisy or don't work properly and issues like lack of hot water or water pressure in bathrooms can occur depending on your room assignation.
This said, we must stress that location is everything here. It stands only a few meters from “La Rampa”, a section of the popular 23rd street, and all of Vedado´s bars, clubs, movie theaters, shops and craft markets. They are also within walking distance to “El Malecón “, Havana's beautiful and lively seaside promenade / avenue, an ideal place to spend time, enjoy the sea breeze and mix in with the local people.
When you book here, it is important to note that, since the 3 hotels work together as a complex, they can allocate your room in any of the three buildings even if you booked “ Vedado” or any of the three. So if you are exclusively interested in staying at one of them, you must point this out strongly.
