Hotel Lincoln is excellently located to explore Havana, since it is near the Old Town and the Malecón (the seaside promenade). But this is probably the only good thing that can be said about it.
It’s an old building (1926), but old in all senses and looking pretty abandoned if not run down. Some renovations are being carried away and hopefully it will be looking better in a new future.
Fangio, the very famous Argentinian racing car driver was kidnapped here in 1958 by two revolutionaries from 26th of July Movement. He was released after 29 hours, since the only reason for his kidnapping was to sabotage the non-Formula One Cuban Grand Prix that Batista had established the year before, which Fangio had won. The suite he occupied then, room 810, is now a museum.
