The Hotel Conde de Villanueva, known to some as the Habano hotel, was especially designed for the joy and delight of cigar smokers.
After a complex restoration, this beautiful property, was turned into a hotel. It used to be the mansion of Claudio Martínez de Pinillos, Count of Villanueva, a famous personality of the Cuban Creole society in the 19th century, who exerted great influence on the economic and social flourishing of the city at that time.
Each of the rooms, 9 in total, is named after a famous Cuban tobacco plantation. They are beautifully furnished and offer views to the charming inner courtyard or to the lovely streets that surround the hotel.
It is a quiet, small property, very well located, with a vintage atmosphere, a cozy inner courtyard with a garden and a bar, tables and chairs.
On the mezzanine of the hotel, there is an exclusive space; La Casa del Habano(The House of the Habano). Properly equipped, it features premises to preserve tobacco (lockeds), a Walking Humidor, a Tasting Bar and a Habanos store fully stocked with Habanos brands produced in the country.
Here, cigar enthusiasts and fans can taste the best brands and enjoy it accompanied by a good Cuban rum.
The fact that the hotel features only nine rooms encourages some of the more regulars to reserve the entire place for themselves and their friends when they come to Havana on special occasions.
Naturally, you don't have to be a smoker to enjoy or hang out in the lush colonial courtyard with its peacocks and mahogany armchairs.
Without a doubt, a hotel full of charm, cozy and intimate that is located a few minutes from the most attractive places to visit in the historic center and on Mercaderes street, one of the most picturesque streets in Old Havana.
