The Conde de Villanueva hotel was designed especially for the joy and delight of cigar smokers and it hosts probably the best cigar shop in town, hidden in the hotel’s mezzanine.
Here, the passionate cigar aficionados can even rent their personal humidor, something along the line of a personal vault in a Swiss bank. However, you don’t have to be a smoker to enjoy the colonial patio with its rich vegetation, mahogany rocking chairs and peacocks.
Each of its 9 rooms is named after a famous Cuban cigar plantation, they are beautifully furnished and feature views to the charming inner courtyard or to the lovely streets that surround the hotel.
The building was the mansion of Claudio Martínez de Pinillos, Count of Villanueva, leader of the creole Havana society in the 19th century. It was restored and is now run by the Office of the Historian of Havana, so all benefits derived are reinvested in the restoration of the historical center of Old Havana.
The fact that the hotel has only nine rooms encourages some of the most recurring clients to reserve the entire place for themselves and their friends when traveling to Havana on special occasions.
A charming, cozy, intimate boutique hotel at 2 minute walk from all places of interest.
