This is a protected natural area situated in the Sierra de los Organos, one of the two mountain chains present in the province of Pinar del Río. The site is striking for its great diversity of fauna and vegetation, these in many cases of significant endemic value.

Worthy of note is the presence in the park of a large hacienda built by order of a wealthy Cuban attorney and diplomat back in the first decades of the XX century, who afforded it such constructive luxury that makes it rise imposingly in its surroundings. The Cortina hacienda with its 22000 hectares total estate is one of the chief attractions of the park on account of its aspects reminiscent of Asian and European cultures.
