It is a peculiar coastal lagoon, very common in the Cuban coasts, that is located in the Varahicacos ecological reserve in the eastern end of the peninsula.
It gives the possibility of observing a landscape quite different from the rest of the ones that offers the Varadero resort, due to the great number of endemic species of fauna that accumulates in its bottom and mangrove forests. In the lake, the visitors can observe 15 varieties of mollusks, 27 of reptiles, all of them harmless for humans; besides, there are hundreds of bird species both native and migratory.
