FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Cuba is a photographer's paradise. It's simply photogenic. You'll agree that.

Access to anything you whish to photograph will be rarely denied, except military and industrial installations, airports and officials in uniform. You will normally be charged for photographing inside museums.

Keep your lenses clean and dry when not in use. Silica gel packs are essential to help protect your camera gear from moisture .

Videos

You may have to declare your video camera upon arrival. Camcorder batteries can be found at Photo Video and Photo Service outlets, but it is wise to bring some spares. In general, bring your own spares and accessories.

Photo Etiquette

Many people love to ham for your camera and will generally cooperate willingly. However, never assume an automatic right to take a personal photograph. It's a common courtesy to ask permission to photograph a person or at might be considered private situations. Some people will request money for being photographed. Whether you pay is a matter of conscious. If they insist on being paid and you don't want to do so, don't take the shot.

In markets, it is considered a courtesy to buy a small trinket from vendors you wish to photograph.
