The Club Amigo Marea del Portillo is a secluded and intimate All Inclusive 3 star hotel right on the beach of the same name.
Even though it takes a 1 1/2 hour drive to get to the resort from the nearest airport (Manzanillo), the panorama is startling. The road going west around the mountains is properly maintained and should be considered as the one to be taken by “normal travelers”. The intrepid and adventurers could try the coast bordering road from Santiago de Cuba, a dramatic way, often interrupted by river erosion and the ocean, that offers stunning views. If you drive by yourself, this road will put you under test.
This scenery hotel sits on a scimitar bay rimmed by a deep two-kilometer-wide beach, back dropped by the mountains of the Sierra Maestra that shelve gently to the shore. The volcanic beach is of fine gray-brown sand and small pebbles that get really hot during the day, so it is advisable to wear shoes.
The ocean view accommodations consist of 70 standard rooms distributed in two storied blocks plus 56 bungalows tucked away at the other side of the resort's pool area, so they are very quiet and private.
Guests are allowed to enjoy also of the services at the neighboring hotel Farallón del Caribe, up the hill from Marea del Portillo.
