Overview:
Though the resort could raise its value with some revamping, the Sandals Royal Hicacos is one of the most resplendent and impressive hotels in Varadero. The entrance is a scenic play on a Polynesian theme, with thatched walkways over landscaped water courses. The hotel boasts lively Caribbean colors meld with rich ocher and the rooms - all Junior Suites - are distributed in three-story gracious buildings, with terracotta floors, lively color schemes, calming blue fabrics, dark hardwoods, and a lovely contemporary feel.
All rooms are quite similar and varying on their position and services are classified as garden views, premiums or concierge. Concierge rooms enjoy a few extra perks like continental breakfast in room, preferential reservations at the a la carte restaurants and more. It is a must-say that due to the hotel’s built position, it does not count with sea view rooms though just a short distance away.
Sandals Royal Hicacos Resort and Spa is commercialized as a “couples-only” resort but it is not infrequent to find other type of guests like small families or groups of friends staying at the hotel. However children are not allowed, the hotel never feels like being over-congested and it remains a relaxing place.
Beautiful pool grounds very nicely kept. Hotel beach is of some 50 meters of white fine sands and shallow crystal waters great and safe to swim into.
Overall, guests will find a wide array of services and locations – some exquisitely elegant, varied food and restaurant options, nice, spacious and clean rooms with proper air conditioning and a very helpful staff.
