"Los Frailes" Hotel erects just a few steps away from the majestic St. Francis of Assisi's Basilica and the charming Old Square.

It used to be the mansion of Marquis Pedro Claudio Duquesne, Captain of the French Navy.

Once visited by "la crème de la crème" of Havana's society and renowned artists, this mansion is nowadays a suggestive place to enjoy quietness and meditation during a stay in the pleasant old town.

This historic property plays on a monastic theme, with staff dressed in "hábitos de frailes" (friars' habits), plus lots of heavy timbers, stained glass, wrought-iron, murals and earth tone brown decor.

Its 23 rooms set around an inner patio with an "aljibe" (well) and a fountain. The rooms have patterned terra-cota tile floors, sponge-washed walls, religious prints and spacious bathrooms.
The hotel has a bar, but no restaurant.
