Hotel Pelicano in Cayo Largo del Sur is a Spanish colonial style resort conceived mainly for familes, which stands right on Lindamar beach, a true paradisiacal place.
The hotel was recently refurbished receiving handsome new landscaping and tropical theme features, plus a lively Caribbean color scheme. It features: a viewing tower with beatiful views of the sea and parks, 307 rooms, 3 restaurants, 2 cafeterias and 3 bars.
Rooms are not the hotel's best feature, but they are certainly OK. There are triple rooms and some are like mini-apartments, which makes them ideal for families.
The beach is right on its doorstep and it is stunning! It is so long that invites you to walk it; just note there's a nude section to the left of the resort. Now, if you want to see an even more beautiful one (voted one of the best beaches in the world) you have to go to Playa ParaÃso. There is a train service that takes you for free, and to Playa Sirena, another gem. You can also take a taxi for less than 5 CUC, totally worth it! After all, one chooses to go to Cayo Largo mainly for the beaches.
Another must, especially if you are travelling with kids, is the turtle farm. You can have the incredible experience of releasing a baby turtle to the ocean. Find the schedule as soon as you arrive, so you don't miss it. Children will remember it for ever!
Food, as in most hotels in Cuba is not something to write home about, but there is plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner at the buffet + there is a beach restaurant / buffet open for lunch. If you dont'want lo leave the swimming pool or prefer something lighter, there is a snack-bar / BBQ by the pool which serves light foods and meats + a pizza place which most guests really appreciate, since the pizzas are home-made and apparently really tasty.
Staff is friendly, helpful, smiling...and the entertainers work hard from morning to late at night to amuse both children and adults by organizing activities, shows and games.
Medical services: In- house doctor + doctor on call 24- hours + qualified personal in first aid assistance and in cardio- pulmonary resuscitation. Schedule: 09:00 - 17:00 hrs.
